Every fertility clinic takes the health of their donors and recipients and their potential offspring very seriously. Both donors and recipients undertake rigorous family history enquiries and a range of tests to minimize the risk of certain diseases being passed to or inherited by any child created by artificial insemination.

But even with this care, there is still a possibility that the combination of recipient and donor DNA can create a risk of the child being born suffering from an inheritable disease.

ICPM DONORASSAY™  is a new genetic test that can help both parents and clinic to reduce that risk; by providing essential information to guide both fertility clinic and recipient to choose a suitable sperm donor, by identifying whether his DNA profile, when combined with the DNA of the mother, is likely to produce a healthy child.

A COMPARISON OF THE CODES IN MOTHER AND DONOR DNA

DONORASSAY™  tells you whether matching an A.I.D donor with a specific recipient carries any increased RISK of specific diseases being found in the offspring.

The comprehensive genetic test looks for specific patterns in the code of the donor DNA that may indicate a risk of carrying certain inheritable diseases, and compares them with those of the DNA of the mother. If matches between donor and recipient DNA are found that could possibly result in the child inheriting a disease, it reports these as a RISK that the donor may not be compatible with the recipient;

It therefore provides additional valuable information to guide recipients in their choice of donor, simply by identifying whether donor and recipient are a compatible genetic match.

A SIMPLE, CONFIDENTIAL, GENETIC TEST

DONORASSAY™ is a simple non-invasive test; it is performed on DNA from a cheek swab collected from the recipient and on semen sample(s) that have been collected from potential donors by your fertility clinic.

It works by comparing specific markers in your DNA: it does NOT report on specific genetic features in either donor or recipient; ICPM cannot identify either customer or donors from the samples that the clinic sends us.

HOW TO REQUEST DONORASSAY™?

 1- Provide us with your contact details and some basic information by following the “ENQUIRE” link on the right side of this page.

2- ICPM will send you the test request form, consent form, terms and conditions and payment information: complete and return to us the test request and consent forms and pay for the test.

3- Your fertility clinic will collect a sample from you (the recipient) and return it to ICPM for testing, with samples of semen from short listed donors.
